PERSONAL.
H. L. STROHL and family and Miss Lizzie SCHRINER Sundayed with W. J. LUCE and
family.
T. B. DANIEL went to Des Moines as a delegate to the Republican state
convention that met yesterday.
Thos. KONKLIN made a trip last week to King City and other Missouri points.
He says crops are excellent there.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. PARRISH of Des Moines, visited their uncle, J. O. PARRISH,
and wife Wednesday and Thursday of last week.
S. H. LANG returned Saturday after an extended visit with friends in
Wisconsin. He spent a couple of weeks at the World's Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. John WOLVERTON returned home last Wednesday from their extended
visit in the west. They had a very enjoyable time.
Mrs. Mabel HORNER, of Davis City, visited with her friend, Miss Cora ARNOLD,
the first of last week. They attended the Epworth League convention at Weldon
as delegates.
Rev. A. KNOLL went to Indianola Tuesday to attend the marriage of his friend
and schoolmate, J. P. MORLEY, of Humeston, to Miss Hattie BERRY, of Indianola,
which takes place to day.
James BRAMBLE and son, of near Milan, Mo., came Saturday on a visit to his
cousins, Mr. and Mrs. S. WHEELER and the editor. Mr. BRAMBLE is a prominent
farmer in Sullivan county. He reports good crops there.
The committee for the depositors of the Decatur Co. Banking Association were
here Monday to examine into the affairs of the Garden Grove Bank. The
committee consisted of W. H. CLARK, J. R. BASHAW, and C. W. HOFFMAN, of Leon, and E.
S. BUFFUM and S. METIER, of Garden Grove. They found everything in good
shape.
Mr. KESHLER, of Davis City, was here Tuesday looking after his interests in
connection with his candidacy for sheriff before the Democratic convention that
meets next Saturday. Mr. KESHLER, or whoever else is nominated for sheriff
wants to look "a leetle oud" for Cal HOFFMAN is under considerable obligations,
so we have heard, to the BECK families on the west side, for assistance
rendered him three years ago when he was running for county attorney.
