Dear Jackie:
Discouraged after years of not coming up with any new info in my search for my encestors and their descendants, I decided now to keep on searching.
My Wolter branch was living in German etnic areas occupied by Poland and Russia after WW1 (formerly East Prussia or West Prussia).
At the end of WW2, it seems, people of German origin who did not leave ontime to the West (Germany)were killed by the onsluaght of the Russian soldiers or retaliating Polish
population. I talked to some survivors who settled in USA and Canada after WW2, and was cautioned about that fact, which is not discussed by the media on either side of the Atlantic. One million people may have perished that way.
Friedrich, Wilhelm, Daniel, Julius, Otto and femenine Wilhelmine,Pauline, Maria, Therese were also comon names in my Wolter branch.
We do not know of any of our Wolter to have moved to USA or Canada. My father Friedrich Wolter, with wife Lidia Gogolin, (whose mother was Wilhelmine Seiler) emigrated from Poland to Argentina in 1924, with 5 kids Waldemar, Otto, Amalia, Eugenia, Romuald) and 5 more born in Chaco, Argentina (Alma, Emma, Teresa, Federico G.,myself and Maria).Guess what, my baptismal name is Friedrich Wilhelm.
I moved to USA in 1968, all others stayed in Argentina.
Keep on searching and keep posting it or contact [email protected]
I promise the same. Regards, Federico G. Wolter.
