Here I am again, trying to figure out where to go in my tree. My goodness, I have never seen so many Wolstenholme families in one area and that is what is confusing me. My great grandfather was John Litton Wolstenholme born on June 29, 1881. His parents were John Will Wolstenholme and Alice Litton. John Will's parents were James Wolstenholme and Mary Evans. On James's marriage certificate is states that his father was Richard, a painter, now I am asssuming a calico painter. Mary's father was Charles Evans was a picker ????. I can't make out the word after Picker. These Wolsteholmes were all from Heywood and most of them had something to do with the cotton industry, as did most of the other Wolstenholmes, which has added to my confusion. Another note of interest, John Will later married Alice Litton's sister Margaret or Margret. John Litton Wolstenholme's sister Alice married Harry Smethurst. Then when you try to go that path, you get so many other Wolstenholmes and Smethurst, that I am totally confused. Any help with my confusion, would be greatly appreciated.
