Hi all! I'm trying to fill in some missing family history. My great-grandmother was Susan Wolstenholme (born in Rishton, Lancashire in 1886). Her parents Chas and Sarah both died young and all their children were packed off to lead unhappy early lives in the neighbouring villages of Great Harwood and Tottleworth. One son, Storey Wolstenholme,(born 1889)worked as an apprentice butcher in Accrington before, my grandmother tells me, emigrating to Australia. I think he had two (possibly more) daughters, Celia and Beatrice, both of whom acheived some fame as swimmers. (Celia won a gold medal in the 1930 Commonweath Games - she was my grandmother's first cousin and we have a wonderful collection of newspaper articles of her showing her medal to the townsfolk of Acrrington.) If anyone has any information on this family link, I'd be really grateful if you could get in touch. Many thanks, Jo Taylore-Knowles Notify Administrator about this message?
