I found an Ann Wolstenholme in the 1851 census for Thornton, West Yorkshire. She was also in the 1861 census. The bIshops records show her as deceased on 27 Jan 1865. Any relation? I'm researching my branch of the Wolstenholme family. My grandfather was born 12 Nov 1886 in Thornton. Don't know when his father was born but his name was Frederick and probably born in 1860. He was married to Mary Lancaster also of Thornton.

Do you have any information on the Sir John Wolstenholme branch. He was a merchant that appeared to be in favor with the king. Several location were named for him since he was a member of the Virginia Company and financed expiditions to the new world back in the 1600's.

Any info you have may be of value to me. I also get frustrated with the internet searches. I'm am now using the LDS and British record. May appear slower but in reality they are faster and verifiable. You may want to view my web site at:

Would like to hear from you.
P.S. My mother was also named Ann Wolstenholme.
