DNA for George Michael and Elizabeth Rutter Wolfe
Has any descendant of this family done DNA Testing? If so would you please provide me information so I can check your test against the DNA test for my line descending from Jacob Wolf b. (unknown place but of German heritage) in 1740 and first found in Salisbury, NC on 8 Nov 1788.
It is being widly circulated on the internet that this Jacob Wolfe as son of this couple is also the Jacob Wolf who died in Izard County AR after the 1830 census was taken. I am not questing that this couple had a son Jacob born about 1740 - but that he is the Jacob Wolf WHO DIED IN IZARD CO., AR after 1830. I can prove the existence of the Jacob Wolf dying in AR as starting with his appointment as constable on 8 NOv 1788 in Salisbury, NC. I cannot prove anything before that date and he would have been some 48 years old at that time, so he had to have had footprints before then. He is definitely documented from that date till his death in Izard County, AR about 1831.
I am seeking proof that the Jacob Wolf b. 1740 and d. 1831 in AR was (OR WAS NOT) the son of the George Michael and Elizabeth Rutter Wolfe. Posting, I have seen, indicate their son, Jacob, had many children. As far as I can document, no mention of any children except for a son Michael Wolf has ever been found for the Jacob Wolf WHO DIED IN IZARD CO. AR in 1831. So, did this man, Jacob Wolf, - son of this couple - JUST TAKE HIS ONE SON MICHAEL (which according to postings would have been his third born) and go to NC and abandon a wife and the other children even the youngest one, Martin R. Wolfe b. 1788 in Smyth County, VA the very same year he was being appointed constable in NC?.
These are the children I find posted as belonging to the couple Jacob Wolfe b. 1740 and Catherine Unknown - all born in PA except the two youngest born in VA:
Jacob b. 1760 (he seems to be well documented as Jacob Jr and in his life there seems to be a Jacob Sr present)
William b. 1762
Michael b. 16 Sep 1764 (This shows birthday of the Michale Wolf who was the proven son of the Jacob who died in AR)
Lawrence b. 1768
John b. 6 Feb 1773
Magdalena Molly b. 1774
George Michael b. 20 SEp 1776
Mary b. 1779
Catherine b. 1781
Joseph b. 1784
Martin R. b. 1788 ( He can be traced)
Now, it is very well documented that the Jacob as constable in NC did had a son Michael also found there in NC as of the 1790 NC census. They are listed in separate households with Jacob listed as single and Michael is married. These two men then move on to KY where they are found on the 1800 census again in separate households.Once again Jacob is single and Michael has a family.
Court records in KY (1800-1819) show these Wolf men buying and selling land. By 1820 the Wolf family was getting established in AR territory where they moved as a group and are found on 1830 census. This time the older Jacob Wolf is living in the household of his son, Michael and Catharine Herdick Wolf. By 1833, the older Jacob, and Michael and his wife had all died.
The land in AR passed from Michael to his children and his oldest son, Major Jacob Wolf, is well established and connected to the establishment that is still standing and known as the Wolf House in Norfork, AR.
There is no doubt that man, Jacob Wolf (our line spelled it) b. 1740 and first documented by us in NC in 1788 did died in Izard Co., AR after the 1830 census was taken. The doubt is if this Jacob Wolf was the son of the George Michael and Elizabeth Rutter Wolf.
We have done DNA testing and did NOT match to any other Wolf blood line that has tested to this date with Family Treem Maker DNA testing bank. If this George Michael and Elizabeth Rutter Wolf line has done testing with that bank, then we do NOT match, but if this LINE has NOT done the testing I would like to find a male member of this line that would be willing to do the testing to see if our lines match.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If George Michael and Elizabeth are indeed the parents of my oldest proven ancestor, I welcome that proof. Then we can quit looking as I know that George Michael can be traced back several generations.
