Merrell. Thx so much for the great info. Altho it doesn't exactly address my ggmother Melvina, it's very consistent with what I've heard from my family. For example, the Champaign Cy connection (where my grandmother spent most of her life), the fact that they were German (I had heard we had German ancestry), and the Zerkles too.
I've heard the name Zerkles mentioned when I was a kid in Ohio. I'm sending a cy of your note to my parents (in AZ now)to see if they can remember more about this connection.
Any help from you or others is very much appreciated.
I'm afraid I have no other information right now, but hope to find more.
