My grandmother is MARTHA WOHLGEMUTH b. in Elbing,Germany(Prussia)in 1893; Her father is FRANZ WOHLGEMUTH also born in Elbing, Germany in 1850. His father is JOHANN WOHLEGMUTH born in Heilberg in 1819, died in Elbing. I don't know of any sibling to FRANZ, but have been told by my mother, that a WOHLGEMUTH had come to the US and settled and died on a return trip to get the rest of his family, and so the family remained. This may have been even a generation or two before FRANZ. Does anyone know when the first Wohlgemuth came to the US, and who his parents were?
