It seems that a Thomas Willoughby b. 1571 Wollaton, Nottingham, England was my 9th great grandfather. He was married twice Catherine Hart - 3 known children one being the Thomas Willoughby of Elizabeth Cittie, VA. and one of the "First Planters of VA". If you're interested you can do a google search on him, but please take most of it with a grain of salt as some researchers have mixed him up with his father.

They have Thomas (the younger one) becoming a father of Alice b. 1608 when he was only a child himself seeing as how he was born 1599-1600. Don't think an 8 yr old boy is fathering children.

Alice was in fact, his half-sister. Alice was my 8th great grandmother.

Thomas b. 1571 second wife seems to have been Elizabeth Middleton.

With Thomas being such a popular name for the Willoughby family, it is hard keeping them straight. One thing known for sure is that Thomas Willoughby b. abt. 1600 was the nephew of Sir Percival Willoughby.

Willoughby Bay in VA is named for this Thomas Willoughby. Sewell Point is named for Henry Sewell married to Alice Willoughby.
