A Sarah Pruitt is listed in Comfort Wofford's (Nathaniel Wofford 1770 - Comfort Snow Pruitt)will as a daughter. There is a Sarah Wofford living in the household of Levi Wofford in 1850 who was presumed to be this Sarah. She is age 50. There is also a Sallie Wofford on the 1860 census. But if she was a Pruitt, then why go by the name of "Wofford?" Her mother distinctly named her as Sarah Pruitt.
If she was age 50 on the census in Levi's household that would have made her born about 1800, long after Cornfeld Pruitt died, and several years after Nathaniel Wofford and Comfort Snow married. It has long been stated that Nathaniel and Comfort married about 1792. This would go perfectly with the dates of births of the other children of Nathaniel's and Comfort's.
If Sarah was in fact a Wofford and was a daughter of Nathaniels and Comfort's then the Sarah "Sallie" married to J. (John Prewitt ) born about 1796-1805 depending upon the census year, fits very well in the order of births of the children. It seems that about 1797 would be the closest to her date of birth.
I believe that Sarah "Sallie" was a daughter of Nathaniel and Comfort, and that she married a John Prewit/Pruitt. Here is the information from the census records for 1850-1880. He may have even been a cousin, who knows?
If in fact, Sarah was a daughter or Cornfeld and Comfort Snow Pruitt, this throws everything out of kilter, as Nathaniel Wofford and Comfort couldn't have married before 1796-1797 even if they married the day after Cornfeld Pruitt died. And if the Sarah Wofford age 50 on the 1850 census living in Levi H. Wofford's household was in fact, Sarah Pruitt, then she was born about 1800, again long after Nathaniel and Comfort were supposed to have married.
And, the children of Nathaniel Wofford's and Comfort's who were born before 1800 birthdates must all be wrong.
