I, too, am descended from Daniel & Catherine
Sicard (Secord), and while I am in no way an
expert, it is my understanding now that most
experts believe Catherine's name was probably
not Woertman, but possibly a similar name.
It is so unfortunate that all notes of the
late Frederick Secord of Chicago, who did
so much research on the name, were destroyed
after being typed up (they can be seen in
5 different locations, including the New-
berry Library in Chicago). On the other hand
I believe his will may have so dictated.
I descend from Daniel & Catherine through
their daughter, Catherine, who married Daniel
Giraud (Gerow), (Jr.), and were parents of
Daniel, III, married Elizabeth Coutant, and
had Deborah (Gerow) Denton, wife of James
Denton, Sr., of Denton's Valley, Va/Tenn.
