I wonder maybe our family is related? I have a Wixan or more likley Wixon in my tree - who married Lejzor (Shear) Wolf Klajman. They had 5 children as follows: Hyman Klyman was also known as Chaim, Chanina. There used to be what was called the Jewish Shelter, in the East end of London - Chanina was always calling there in the hope of finding someone who came from his village and could give him news of his family. You could say he was our families first genealogist. He often brought groups of people home from there to eat without giving prior warning to Millie his wife, they used to leave the table so that these refugees could sit down and eat. He was a merry soul and enjoyed making jokes and sometimes getting drunk. He was very religious. He earned a living as a ladies machinist, tailor - by collecting old clothes, calling round at people's houses with a heavy sack on his back. Then he would have the clothes cleaned and would repair them before selling them in his shop. Then on Sundays he would go and get a barrow from a man who stored them under the railway arches, the clothes would be piled on this barrow and he would push it all the way to Petticoat Lane. He lived in Stepney, London. He was named after a Rabbi - the reason being that it would bring him good luck, and survival skills. We know from the Russian translation the surname was originally "Klajman" His last place of address was 73 Cable Street, London E1. Daughter: Chava moved from Madliborzyc to live in California USA, and owned a hotel. Son: Yossel was a soldier in the Russian army. Daughter: Mariam & another son Krandel. Please help (my family tree is at www.family.2ya.com ) Richard.
