David,
My Great Great Grandfather came over to American and was made a citizen of the United States, Oct. 28th 1852, through the State of Kentucky,Jefferson County. His name is George Wittmann, He was born in the Kingdom Of Bavaria on the 17th of Aug. 1828 and immigrated to the United states of Amer. in spring of 1846 and landed at New Orleans, State of Louisiana in May 1846, that he was 17 years old and about 9 months of age.( I took this right off a copy of his citizenship papers of 1852.
As far as I can tell he had 3 boys and 3 girls.

1) George Jr. (Was a celebrated walk-runner in St.Louis and the State of Missouri. I have his gold watch for Championship of Missouri)

2) Albert George Sr.( My Great Grand Father, a celebrated Oarsman in St. Louis. I have his Gold Rowing Metals.)

3) August ( I believe he went down to Panama to build the canal and was never heard from again. They searched to no avail.)

4) Maggie Wittmann Peters

5) Lillie

6) Mary
(not necessarily in that order)

That's all I have time for now.
Steve
