I think this may be a false lead. I only know about my Ed because I have some notes that my gr.gr.grandmother wrote for one of her sons who was visiting Northumberland after the family had moved to Washington, telling him who to visit. The notes include "Mrs. Lib Withington (Ed W's mother)" and "Mart. Withington Ed's Bro." I now realise that this Ed must be the George Edward who was born in 1850, son of Martin and his wife Elizabeth (Lib). This George Edward had a brother named Martin. I was off by a generation. I don't have any info beyond that.
However, I was also wrong just now when I said Ed was living in Northumberland at the time, or she would have said to visit him as well. Also, I just looked up Martin Sr.'s bio in a Northumberland county history and found that he was raised in Centre County (http://searches1.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/archives/pa/northumberland/areahistory/bell0038.txt). I don't know anything about his siblings, now that I've moved Ed to the next generation. Given that Martin Sr. was raised in Centre County, had a father named George, and a son named George Edward (who was known as Ed), there's still a chance that he also had a brother named George Edward born in 1826. You might find more at the Northumberland Co. GenWeb site, which has a good search engine.
I hope this is of some help, and not just a wild goose chase!
