Bushrod Witchers (2)

There are two listings in the U.S. Census for Bushrod Witcher. One was born in about 1815. The other was born in 1843 and was my great grandfather. There must be some relationship between the two, but my ggrandad was documented in the 1850 census living with his father, Andrew J. and mother Mary (Burns?)in Coosa Alabama. I have learned a bit about the Witchers that lived in Cedartown Ga. in about 1830, but can only vaguely attach them to Bushrod. I do want to know more about both Bushrods and their families. Regardless of where he came from and who he is, Bushrod, was a remarkable fellow who served in the Confederate 1st Georgia Infantry for most of the war. He did take some time off to heal his wounds from being injured at Missionary Ridge. My information comes from The Sons of Confederate Veterans and my discovery of his grave marker in Forny Alabama. I think he may have had two families. I came from the Josie Smith line. Josie was the daughter of Mahulda Bynum Smith and Samuel Smith. It is believed that Cherokee Indian exists somewhere in that line. Or, is it something else? I will check this post daily hoping to find someone who knows where the Bushrod's came from.
