Thank you! You have added greatly to our family tree! We
had none before Rudolph's father. The spelling of the
name surely has varients.

"Wissler" is the spelling in the family BIBLE I have of Elizabeth WISSLER who married William Patterson in Rapho Twp., Lancaster, PA 15 Oct 1850, my paternal great grandparents.

I also have a letter Elizabeth's brother, John Brenneman, wrote to her during the Civil War in which he signed his name as "Whistler". (He was killed the first morning of the Battle of Shiloh. Elizabeth's brother-in-law, Arthur Patterson, M.D. found his body on the battlefield and returned to her the "housekeeper" she had made for her brother.)
