Not many Wissing's around. I'm am interested in the possible (and most likely) connection between the WISSING and WISSINGER surnames (and many others (WISINGER, WESSINGER, WIESINGER, WEISINGER, WYSINGER, etc.). My line immigrated from Germany in the 1750's and settled in Maryland, then the Pennsylvania area with branches in Ohio and Indiana.

I did find the following WISSING immigrants:

List of all Passengers taken on board the Ship New England whereof Isaac Orr is Master, at the Port of Bremenhaven and bound for New-Orleans, including letters from surviving passengers and an account of their mistreatment.
Columns represent: Names, Age, Sex, Occupation, Country to which they belong, Country of which they intend becoming Inhabitants

317 Maria Wissing 43 female farmer Prussia Ohio
318 Catharina Wissing 7 female farmer Prussia Ohio

List of passengers that died
22 Bernard Wissing 4
23 Herman Wissing 10 months
41 Elisabeth Wissing 4
42 Elisabeth Wissing 4
43 Bernard Wissing 42

Capa Giradau, 22nd Feb. 1854

Keep in touch.
