Hi, Mike, I would like to good-naturedly challenge some of your info about Jake and Finley. I hope you don't mind. I don't think John Finley was the son of William Z. I believe he was the son of James, who was the son of Harmon (Samuel's brother), based on census records: 1880 census Greene Co., TN, p. 65C: James Wisecarver, age 34 Martha, age 26 Finley, age 9 M Martin H., age 7 M Thomas G., age 5 M Robert, age 1 M 1880 census Green Co., TN, p. 57D: Wm. Wisecarver, age 31 Mary, age 30 Elanor, age 4 F Earnest, age 2 M Etta, age 1 F 1900 census Greene Co., TN, p. 51: William Wisecarver, Dec 1848, age 51, m 26 yrs Mary A., Apr 1850, age 50, 9 children born, 9 still living Earnest, July 1877, age 22 M Elizabeth A., Jan 1881, age 19 F Samuel G., Mar 1883, age 17 M William A., July 1885, age 14 M Danah M., May 1889, age 12 M Hugh S., Nov. 1890, age 9 M Joseph A., July 1894, age 5 M (the 2 children unaccounted for in 1900 would be Elanor & Etta mentioned in 1800 but probably married by 1900) Also, the 1910 census entry for Finley does not show a son named Jake or Jacob: 1910 census Greene Co., TN p. 231a: Finley J. Wisecarver, age 39, married 20 yrs Susan, age 38, 7 children born, 6 still living Anna M., age 19 F Gussie E., age 15 F Arnis L., age 11 F Sallie K., age 9 F Lewis L., age 7 M Mary C., age 2 F BTW, cemetery records indicate Finley's birthdate as 30 Dec 1870 - he is buried in Scoot Community, aka Old Mill, Cemetery in Greene County. What's your take on this? Please let me know if you've found any additional information. My e-mail address is carolet@xtn.net and also I have a webpage at http://pages.xtn.net/~carolet (scroll down and click on "Wisecarver"). Notify Administrator about this message?
