On the 1880 census, a Moses Wise was listed in the “household” of Zalma Block, keeper of the St. Charles Hotel in the city of Cape Girardeau, Missouri:
WISE Moses Other Widowed Male White 54 OH Photographer OH OH
Zalma Block was a member of a large family of Jews from Bohemia spread along the Mississippi River from New Orleans to north of St. Louis, and up the Ohio River to Cincinnati.
Can anyone more fully identify photographer Moses Wise?
