Hi Jane,
What is your husband's name and who was his father?I know James had brothers named Joe and Jason.
Yes, there is a connection. My mother, Carrie Mae Boyette married James Wisdom in 1934.My mother's maiden name was Owens. My father, John L. Boyette died in 1933 leaving my mother a widow, with an infant daughter, me,Dorothy I. Boyette (now Semenyna).I was born in 1932.James and Carrie Mae then had a son, Roy Allen born in 1935 and a daughter, Hazel Marie, born in 1939.All if the above are now deceased (with the exception of me of course). We were all born in Tenn.I have been researching the Wisdoms for Roy's children, as unfortunately, like some divorced fathers (not all of course) they did not maintain contact with their children.
Roy's children did not see their father after their teen years. He married twice more (no chlldren) and both of these ended in divorce.
My confusion lies in the names of Jasper's wives.I defintely do not believe he was married to either Thoda Rickett (sp) or Emalline Land. The census for 1910 is where both Jasper and Lara state it is the 2nd marriage for both of them.Jasper and Lara were married in March of 1910 and the census, I believe was taken in May of 1910 - meaning they were married just a couple of months. This is the same census were the Blackwell children are listed as step children (her children, I believe).Although Lara's name on the marriage notice (I have a copy of it) says Mrs. Lara Carroll, I do believe it was Mrs. Lara Carroll Blackwell.
The reason for this is that I found Laura Blackwell on the 1900 Tn. census married to James M. Blackwell with a son, Wade A. Blackwell (Martha was not on this census as she was born after 1900).I also have a copy of the notice of Jasper's marriage to Mrs. Belle F. Williams - they married in 1892. (I don't know where the Luna Belle comes in.I got the Luna Belle from other researchers on Family Trees, not documents.)I found Mrs. Belle F. Williams on the 1800 census married to William Williams - she was only 16 and he was 57.There were 3 children listed on this census, 2 females, one named Luna and one named Belle (could this be where the Luna Belle comes in) and one son.The oldest child was 8 which means that Mrs. Belle Williams would have been 8 when she gave birth.I believe these 3 children were children of William and of course, not Belle's.She may have been a relative that he married to help with the children.I have found this to be the case in several of my lineages.
Although I have been living "up North" for most of my life, I visit Tenn. every July, as I still have cousins on both my mother's and father's side.I often do research there through the Obion County Library which has copies of all documents and also the Obion County Court House.I have a friend who, has in the past, done research for others, working out of that library. He does not work for the Library, only uses their resources and through him, I have located documents, i.e, the marriages of Jasper to both Mrs. Belle F. Williams and Mrs. Cara Carroll.I will be visiting Tennesse in another two weeks but do not plan to do further research on the Wisdoms as I feel that I have obtained what I need through my searches there and also Ancestry.com (not Family Trees but censuses, etc.).
However, if there is anything specific you wish me to search for please let me know. When I return the end of July I will forward you more information on the Wisdom but through slow mail, if you will send me your mailing address as I have quite a bit.I also have a copy of Jasper M. Wisdom in his Civil War uniform and more information on him.I'm glad to have made this connection with you, perhaps we can add more to the Wisdoms.
