My Wirth family is from Bad Dürkheim, Rheinpfalz, Germany. The family has been found in past records in Jersey City, Long Island and upper New York State in Albany, Schenectady and Schodack/Castleton-on-Hudson, Rensselaer County. They arrived during the 1880's to 1891. My great grandmother, Catherine (Katie) Wirth, was a servant for a family in New York City before she married. Her sister Elizabeth (Lizzie) Wirth married Henry Landmann in Jersey City on 20 May 1888. I believe I may have found him on a passenger list arriving at the Port of New York on 14 February 1887, birth year about 1862, occupation "taylor" which would be his correct age and occupation. His origin was stated as being Frankfurt. If any of this helps to connect us, please let me know.

There were many John Wirths/Worths listed and it wouldn't hurt to see if any appear to match your information on him. Have you tried the newspapers on Ancestry.com? It's sometimes amazing what you can find in their data bases.
