Edwin Winterborne
b. Oxford, England Sept. 1826
He may be the man who d. in Chicago, Ill. 1901
m. Catherine Boyer in Philadelphia
one child: Charles Boyer Winterborne (I have data on him)

In the early 1860's Edwin Winterborne abandoned his family. He wrote home (no date known) to tell his wife that he needed money to come home. She refused to send it. He said "I've been shanghied to the S. Pacific".

Then an Edwin Winterburn turns up in Chicago, Illinois
b. ca 1826 England
m. Anna Smith (1833-1919). She d. in Chicago
issue:
Sarah b ca 1862
Edwin F. 1871 (he died in Los Angeles
William A.b. 1875 (I have data on him)

Was Edwin Winterborne the same as Edwin Winterburn?
Did the Philadelphia man abandon his Phila. family to duck out of draft of the Civil War and start a new life as Winterburn in Chicago??

Catherine Boyer Winterborne had husband declared dead in 1889. She died 19 Dec. 1891 in Philadelphia.
