Hi Cousin,
Your story is so close to mine,exept that I am from Jamaica.What I do know so far is that the name is of German ancestry then later intermixed into Scottish ancestry.The Scotch and German then mix with Negroes resulting in West Indians negroes,mulatoes and samboes etc.
This was the situation in Jamaica,I suspect it was the same in Trinidad.
Good luck in your search,Ill be off hibernating in Jamaica for the Winter.
