Could certainly be Thomas Jones Winston. All we know is that the Cavalcade of Jackson County states:"The following individuals made the first trip on the Emblem; Jesse White, Ben. J. White, J.M. Heard, Mrs. Elizabeth Dever, Mrs. Jemima Heard and family, John Davis, ---Royster, J.J. Lind and his father, T. J. Winston, Samuel Davis, ---Warren, ---Hart, and Rev. S.C.A. Rogers and family.Flat boats were built; the families and provisions were rowed up the river to their land.J.J. Lind and his father went to Victoria. The Emblem returned to New Orleans and brought other colonists to Jackson County."They arrived Feb 12, 1831.
Descendants of the Texas Alabama Settlement will have a reunion 10-12 Oct 2009 in Egypt TX.We are trying to locate those families.I would appreciate any information you might provide.
