Records found in the Van Zandt Co., TX courthouse regarding the distribution of money for the heirs of James GRAY...one of the heirs was RUTHA WINSTED.
James Gray's first wife is unknown, but he married Mrs. Elizabeth Jones in Lauderdale Co., AL in 1832, widow of John Jones III.
The money of the estate was divided between the children of James Gray and his first wife, and also to the children of John and Elizabeth Jones, the stepchildren of James Gray.
From the 1830 and 1840 Lauderdale Co., AL census for James Gray there were no females listed other than a wife. Therefore, I am trying to determine how Rutha Winsted was an heir to the Estate of James Gray in 1856. Looking for a Rutha who married a WINSTED/WINSTEAD.
