My great-grandmother's maiden name was Winslow. Her father was Samuel B. Winslow of Troy, NY and her grandfather was James Winslow who emigrated from Co. Monaghan, Ireland in about 1820. He was from Anaghdon or Ematris. I asked a genealogist to look into this and he said James Winslow's father was probably John Winslow although he was not sure. He said he thought the family was probably descended from a soldier in Cromwelll's army who remained in Ireland. Any connection?
