I got the following information from a manuscript file at the CT Historical Society in Hartford:

Your Nathaniel Winship (born 19 July 1767 in Hartford, CT; d. 28 Feb. 1848 in Hartford, CT) was the son of Joseph Winship and Sarah White who were married 18 Dec. 1765. Nathaniel was born Oct 1739 in Middletown, CT and died 20 Nov 1815 in Hartford, CT. Sarah was the daughter of Nathaniel White and Hannah Spencer.

Joseph Winship was the son of Timothy Winship and Margaret Merrick who were married 5 Aug. 1731. Timothy was born 3 May 1712 in Westminster, London, England.

There is more and I can send you the photocopies I made of this file a number of years ago. I collect Winship information when I hit a dry time in my other research. I had thought for a time that all the Winships in the US were descended from Lyonell and his son Edward of Cambridge but I have come across two other emmigrants in my research, one of whom is your Timothy.
