Thought this information might help someone. My home town is Winnie, Texas in between Houston, Galveston, and Beaumont.
Fox Winnie was from Newton Kansas, worked on forming a railroad bed for the Railroad Gulf and Inter-State Railroad. In 1895 Winnie filed for name of town along with L.P. Featherstone, pres. of RR. and sec. Dee Normandie.
