Hi Jeff,
I am a descendant of William Winnett and Sarah Strange.
My line is William/William Jr./John/Lucinda who married Michael Flood. Michael and Lucinda Winnett Flood had a daughter Mary Ellen Flood who married James Basford. They were my GG Grandparents.

Fallowfield farm designated state Century Farm

HARRISBURG — A farm near Charleroi in Fallowfield Twp. has been designated a Pennsylvania Century Farm.
A Century Farm is one that has been owned by the same family for at least 100 consecutive years and a family member must currently live there.
The oldest of the 29 farms recently added to the list is owned by Laura Debnar Gilbert and her brother, Daniel Debnar, of Charleroi. The farm, patented sometime before 1760 by their ancestor William Winnett, also has a very colorcolorful history.
Winnett apparently was kidnapped in England and brought to the American colonies where he was bound until the age of 21.
He then took a patent for 1,000 acres of land in Fallowfield Twp. and married England native Sally Strange.
Their first of 12 children, William Winnett Jr., was born on the farm in 1761. Winnett farmed his homestead and became a barrel maker to support his large family.
The family has artifacts which indicate their farm springs were used by Indians, in addition to family stories about Indians coming to the farm to trade for their tobacco.
One man, reportedly caught cheating at cards, was hanged from an old oak tree.
Two natural farm springs, the only ones in the region, run off and create wetlands conducive to wildlife. The Audubon Society has banded many species of birds on the Debner farm and 10,000 blue spruce trees have been planted as part of an erosion conservation plan.
Another farm in Washington County designated as a Century Farm is owned by Ray Smallwood of Coal Center RD1. The farm was purchased in 1801 by his great-great-great grandfather, Baranett Johnson.
