Does anyone know this family? Mr.and Mrs. J.A. Winnett have received word that their son, Cpl. Marvin L. Winnett died Aug. 12 at the U.S. army hospital in Warrington, England. He sustained severe burns while engaged in refueling a plane on Aug. 5. Born at Hugo, Ok. July 9, 1922, Cpl. Winnett attended school at Colbert. He was engaged in farming before entering service Nov. 23, 1942. He received his training at Truax Field, Wis., going overseas in Feb., 1943. Survivors are his parents, two sisters of Colbert and four brothers, three of Colbert and one, Otis, stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. This is from the Herald News Service, Colbert, Ok. 1945. This obit. was found in an old bible belonging to my grandmother, Willie Douglass Davis Phillips.
