What's in a name?
Hi all,
Today I was up in Skipton and came across one of those Heraldry stalls where they advertise "Your Surname History scroll printed in only 90 seconds."
I don't know about anyone else but I for one don't trust them and as a true Yorkshire man prefer to keep tightly hold of my £6.95 and hope to find information from more reliable sources.
I was wondering if anyone out there has actually managed to discover the origins the Winn family surname. Has anyone ever given way to temptation and bought one of the scrolls or surname books and would be willing to share with everyone else here? (Is the Yorkshire man in me showing through?)
By the way my wife's maternal grandmother was a Winn and her family had been based in Leeds,Bradford and Nottingham. Anyone related to a Winn from those areas would be nice to hear from. See if we can link the branches.
Graham
