Amos Winks b 1818 in Maryland; Married Deborah Robey in 1863 in New York. Children born in New York: Henry Sobiski b 1838; Charles b. 1840; Hannah E. b. 1842; Mary Ellen b. 1844. Preceding place of birth listed as Big Flats, Chemung, New York. Family moved to Michigan before birth of the following all in Kalamazoo, Michigan: George F. b. 1846; Lorin [or Loren] Grant b. 1849; Sarah Ann b. 1850; Herbert Theoderic b. 1854; William Thomas b. 1857. 'Grant' Winks was the father of Lewis G. Winks [my grandfather]; Lewis G. Winks only child was my father John Lewis Winks b. 1909, died 2000. Many other Winks live in area; my siblings and other connections, mostly through female descendents of Amos. Amos father may have been Thomas.
