I am a descendant of JACOB WINK, Esq. and also searching his ancestry. The connection with SEBASTIAN VINK seems to me very doubtful. Jacob's gravestone is very clear. "In Memory of JACOB WINK Esq. who departed this life Jan. 12th Anno 1806 aged 73 life years Heb. IV, 9 There remaineth, therefore, a rest to the people of God Corruption, earth, and worm shall but refine this flesh Till my triumphant spirit comes To put it on afresh." Hence, Jacob's birth date calculates to 1732 or 1733.
Sebastian VINK (always presumed to be Von Vink and Holland Dutch by my family) arrived in Philadelphia (from Rotterdam) aboard the William and Sarah on 18 Sept 1727 with a two-year old son, (therefore, born c. 1725) presumed to be Jacob. The dates just don't work. Jacob's grave stone is very clear.
I have some hunches that I have not yet pursued and am not yet wlling to make public, lest wild guesses get perpetuated as fact. Will be happy to correspond privately and share information and ideas.
