Robin,
You don't say how you think you are descended from Mary "Polly" Winings. There is a web page at www.deweeses.com which claims a Mary "Polly" Winings who was born in Kentucky 1798 was married to a Wilson DeWeese.

The Mary "Polly" Winings to which I refer was born about 1795 in Pennsylvania. She and her older sister Annie were living with Elizabeth Winings in Rising Sun, Ohio County, Indiana according to the 1850 census. Ann was 60 and Polly was 55. Their mother Elizabeth was 96. No surnames were shown on Ann or Polly, so one must assume that their surname was the same as the head of household, Elizabeth. If this is the same Polly, she must have been divorced and went back to her maiden name.
I hope this helps. If find to contrary, please post it here or send me an email at ByronWinings@Email.Com
Byron
