My name is Dona Amechia Taylor and I am an African-American researcher.

My GGG Grandfather James WINGFIELD was owned by Susan Gordon WINGFIELD widow of James N. WINGFIELD in Wilkes County, Georgia

I am in search of any records (wills, court records, bills-of-sale etc) identifying slaves owned, willed or sold that may shed light on my Grandfather and respective relatives.

The challenge of African-American research is that once you've gone back 2-3 generations, you must begin to research the possible slaveowners data in hope of finding information on your respective Ancestor.
