My name is Billie Ann Sessions Davis. My mother was Flora Ann Wingard, daughter of William Miles and Bertha Sullivan Wingard.I have just recently been corresponding with a distant cousin of my mother who has worked on the Wingard genealogy.According to him our first recorded ancestor, John Adam Binghart (German spelling of Wingard) landed in Charleston, SC in January 1753.According to another cousin, John Adam Wingard came from Switzerland.I am trying to find out what is correct.Frank says the only documented proof indicates Germany, but Teresa's records indicate Switzerland. However, there is no doubt that wherever he came from, he landed in South Carolina. My grandfather, William Miles, was the son of George Franklin Wingard.I have pulled together some more information. Please let me know what you can from your end, since that seems to be where our ancestors first landed.
