Patricia and Raymond, do either of you know of any records in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA, which prove the early children (in particular, son Joseph Pinckney Wing) of Edward Wing, Jr. and his 2nd wife Lucretia Cook (aka Abernathy)? We have checked the Fulton Co., GA Estates Index but find nothing listed therein for Edward Wing, Jr., who is buried in Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. He died 14 Jan 1862, and was born in 1794 at Lexington Co., SC. Joseph was in Lincoln Co., GA when he and Margaret Tillery married in 1844 and they are there for the 1850 census, then moving to Richmond Co., GA by 1860.
Edward and Lucretia are on the 1860 Fulton Co., GA census. We have the 1870 census for Fulton Co., GA, showing that Lucretia Wing was age 65 and head of household and living with her widowed daughter Elizabeth Wing Glynn, who had married Peter Glynn in 1846. In 1880, Lucretia (listed as "Mother") is living in the house of her son Andrew J. Wing in Atlanta, Fulton Co.
We haven't been able to locate an obituary for either Edward or Lucretia Wing in the Atlanta newspaper. Lucretia died on 27 Feb 1885 and is also buried in Oakland Cemetery.
Does anyone have any record which will prove that Joseph Pinckney Wing is the son of Edward and Lucretia? I know that he is listed as a son in "The Owl" but there is no proof given.
