From the Melvern Review 03/03/1898, Provided by the Osage County Historical Society & Genealogical Research Center, 631 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451 C.J. Wing, an old settler and respected by resident of this county, passed to rest last Saurday morning after an illness of but a few days. Mr Wing was a whole souled, good natured man, and had many frieds who will be sorry to learn of his sudden death. The remains were deposited in Rock Creek Cemetery Sunday afternoon. The wife and son wo survived him have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood of friends. The next two Obituaries are for the same person both printed by the Quenemo News on 3/1/1906 Provided by the Osage County Historical Society & Genealogical REsearch Center. Mary Elizabeth Higgins was born November 6 1839 in Steuben Co., New York. Came to Kansas when five years of age, On 1/11/1851 she was united in marriage to Clark J Wing, they resided in Dopuglass county until 1880 when they came to Osage County. She died February 25, 1906, aged 67 years and 8 months. Four children we born to Mr. and Mrs. Wing three of which are still living. Mrs Wing in early life united with the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. C.J. Wing died at her home, Sunday morning at 8 o'clock. The funeral was preached at her home by Rev. Kilpatrick of Quenemo. She was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Coneley Cemetery. Please take note that Rock Creek Cemetery and Coneley Cemetery are the same cemetery and is now call Pleasant View Cemetery and is located 3 and a 1/2 miles east of Melvern Kansas. The fore mentioned Historial Society has information on other members of the Wing family located in that area.
