Hi all- I know this is an old post, but wanted to reach out to any descendants of Absalom Winfrey. I'm the great great greandson of Constantine, one of his slaves. Over the years, I've closely followed the history of your family, as it helps mine understand the migration patterns that both of our families share. I've always noted that for years after slavery ended, both men were able to live side by side and farm virtually next door to one another. What a unique opportunity it was for their relationship to continue under those new conditions. I'm currently involved in a massive project with African American Winfreys who I am not related to, but whose slave masters all come from the Virginia, Georgia, and Mississippi Winfreys. I'm look forward to communicating and sharing with you. Merry Christmas!
