Hello Joseph,
John Cyril Winfield is my mother's uncle. He was born in 1898 and died in 1968. The family came from a coal mining background and after the war John was employed as an electrician at a colliery. I have a colour painting of him in his army uniform. According to the family, John suffered from shell shock after the war and I have heard stories it affected him in other ways.
My mother and his one granddaughter (whom we are in contact with in the UK) are his closest living descendents. We are are keen to hear back from you.
Kind regards
Terry Morgan
