Catherine Windsor c1755 /1839 Montgomery Cty. MD

On and off thru the last few years I have been corresponding with Boyd Powell, he has researched the Windsor line as an offshoot of his House (Howse etc) line. He has developed what I consider a 99% proof that Catherine's maiden name was House.

Please note I have not been to MC to investigate these documents. Since the documents are all dated I am confident that when I can get there they will all be verified. In the meantime people closer to the scene are invited to verify this on their own. I would like to hear there conclusions.

What follows is Boyd's original in its entirety (I have copied his transmission):

The International Genealogical Index (IGI) of the LDS Church says that the woman who married Thomas Windsor and was the mother of these 11 children was Catherine Ward. This is possible because there were two Ward families in Montgomery County in the 1790 census (Joseph & Edward). I believe she was Catharine Howes (Hows)(Howse), however, for the following reasons:
1. The Windsors lived between (almost next door to) John Howse and James Howse.
2. In his will, written 30 Nov 1820, Edward Howes, son of James, names Arnold T. Winsor and Alexander Winsor as his nephews.
3. It appears from all the evidence I have at this time that this Edward Howes never married, so any of his nephews not named Howes would have to be sons of his sister, and her surname, her maiden name, would have to be HOWES.
a. Edward is unmarried when he buys an acre of land from John Barber 15 Nov 1816.
b. Edward is unmarried when he writes his will 30 Nov 1820.
c. Edward is unmarried when he sells an acre of land to Anna Maria Winsor 8 Mar 1822.
4. Alexander is the name of a HOWES, probably a brother of John, Edward, and James, who was with them in Montgomery County on the 1783 tax list.
5. Henry is also the name of several HOWES males in and around the area between 1700 & 1820.
6. The executor of the will of Edward Howes (1822) is his NEPHEW, Arnold T. Winsor.
7. Mary, Ann, and Sarah are standard HOWES names, but they are standard names in almost EVERY family at that time.
8. In a letter from James M. Brown a 3rd great grandson of Ann/Nancy Winsor and Joseph Brown, I found the following:
"I mention in my notes that Thomas Windsor's wife cannot be Catherine Ward.. I read a record in the historical society papers, which stated that Catherine Ward was the wife of T. Winsor and she was the daughter of Samuel Ward who donated land to build a church in what became Ward Chapel, Md. After reading this I drove to Wards Chapel and looked at the gravestone of Samuel Ward his date of birth was in 1809 about 60 years after the birth of T. Windsor's wife. People in the parish told me that this S. Ward was the founder of the church. I concluded that Catherine's last name was not Ward."
Reasons 2, 3, 7, and 8 are the main crux of my contention. The rest of the reasons are supporting players in one form or another.

Additional info which I was given and should be mentioned here:

C1770 to c1810 there were two Edward Howes in MC The elder was the brother of James House and the younger was James' son (Catherine Windsor is this James' daughter). The two can be distinguished in written documents because the elder signed his name Edwd House and the younger wrote it Edward Howes. Edwd House was married and Edward Howes was not.
