This is NOT an offer to sell a book. An offer to sell a book on this forum is against the rules of this forum. This information is about a new Windham book to be published next year. The new Windham book is not even printed, so it is NOT offered for sale, here and now. ******************************************************** I have decided to print and publish a hard-back Windham family book. I expect this book to be ready to go to the printer by the first part of next year, 2012. This Windham book will be compiled from over fifty years of Windham research and my accumulating Windham family data. This particular book will be a genealogy about the descendants of Edward Windham (1608-1664), the immigrant Windham ancestor who came to the Virginia shore in 1634 on the ship, John and Dorothy. I have already compiled and self-published a 268 pages soft-cover, spiral-bound book about the Darlington Windhams (these are the descendants of Charles Windham b. ca.1709-d.ca.1770 in Darlington area of South Carolina). I did not offer for sale that Darlington Windhams book but my book, “Windham Families of Darlington, South Carolina”, 16 Sep 2010 version, 268 pages with a full name index is available for viewing at the following libraries: Darlington County Historical Commission 204 Hewitt Street Darlington, SC 29532 Ozark Dale County Public Library 416 James Street Ozark, Alabama 36360 My previous book, “Windham Families of Darlington, South Carolina”, is a completely different Group of Windhams than is compiled in my new upcoming book on the Descendants of Edward Windham (1608-1664). The new 2012 Windham approximately 800 pages book will NOT include ANY of the Windham descendants in my previous “Windham Families of Darlington, South Carolina” book. However, I ‘may’ republish a revised and updated hard-back book version of my “Windham Families of Darlington, South Carolina” sometime toward the end of 2012. If I do reprint “Windham Families of Darlington, South Carolina”, in hard-back, that book will also be offered for sale probably the latter part of 2012. I expect my new Windham book about the descendants of Edward Windham (1608-1664) to be about 800 pages (maybe a few more pages, maybe a few less), 9-point type font, with a full name index in the back of the book. The name index, alone, will be approximately 75 pages listed in two columns per page. There will be about 800 ‘unique’ endnotes sourcing where I got the Windham data that is in the book. The ‘unique’ endnotes uses the superscript reference number for the same exact source referring to more than one page in the book. If individual endnotes had been used, there would be over 5000 sources for the data information sourcing. The first purpose of this advance notice of my book, “Edward Windham (1608-1664). The Immigrant” is to give any of you who so desires, a chance to indicate your interest in me printing enough copies to ensure you have a copy available. There will be very few EXTRA copies of the book printed. If you are interested in having a copy of this Windham book for your own, the only way to guarantee that copy is available for you, is to let me know by emailing, writing, or calling me to indicate your interest in a copy. This will NOT be a book order (that’s against the rules of this forum), you can freely back-out of your ‘interest’ in the book, anytime. You can show your ‘interest’ in a copy anytime BEFORE the book goes to printing. I will donate a copy of my Windham book to six (6) genealogy libraries of my choice: one in South Carolina, one in Georgia, one in Alabama, one in Mississippi, and two in Texas, so if you decide not to reserve a copy of the book, you can still go to one of those libraries and view the 800 page book for free. Again, you can show an ‘interest’ in a copy anytime before the completed book goes to the printer. You do NOT actually ORDER and you do NOT pay for the book until the printed and bound book is ready to ship, probably sometime in early 2012. Orders for the book will be taken after the final book version has gone to the printer, but those after-the-printed date orders will NOT be guaranteed to be available. Showing an ‘interest’ in a copy of my new Windham book does NOT bind or require you to actually purchase a printed copy when they are available…..you can back-out of your reservation anytime by just notifying me. The second purpose of this advance notice of my book, “Edward Windham (1608-1664). The Immigrant” is to give any of you who so desires, an opportunity to get information data that you want, included in the book. I highly recommend, especially if you plan to reserve a copy, that you contact me by email, phone, or postal mail, ask me what I already have included about you and your family and then you provide me correction updates or additional data you want included…….I can even include a photo/picture in the upcoming Windham book for you if you provide a .jpg image that you want included. Your opportunity to change, update your data information will only be good for about four (4) months or until about end of October 2011. You can provide your personal information update/corrections even if you don’t plan to reserve a copy of the book, that way your personal data would be correct for when you look at the book in one of the six libraries in the Deep-South States. Sorry, there will be some limits to large amounts of additional data you may want included. I need to keep this Windham book in the approximate 800 page range, otherwise the book becomes too big to handle in a computer word processer and also, too big to physically handle the actual book. Please know that the only Windhams/Wyndhams/Windoms, etc., who will be included in this new “Edward Windham (1608-1664). The Immigrant” book is the descendants of Edward Windham (1608-1664). I can help you determine if you are one of Edward Windham’s descendants….just email me and ask me. Please know that if you are a descendant of Charles Windham (1709-1770) of the Darlington Windhams, you will NOT be included in this particular 800+/- pages Windham book. If you are a ‘Darlington Windham’ you may already be included in my earlier book, “Windham Families of Darlington, South Carolina”. I can help you determine which Group you will be in…..just email me. I would have liked to include ALL Windhams in one (1) bound book but that would have been about 1200 pages, too big for one single bound book, so I had to separate them. The cost price of the new 800+/- pages Windham book has NOT been determined and will not be determined until the finished copy goes to the printer later this year or the first part of next year. I can say, for sure that it will NOT be cheap. A single surname genealogy hard-back quality-bound book is VERY expensive due to the usual low numbers order of the printed books. I can also say that I will NOT be making any (zero) profit on this book. The purchase price will be determined by the printing, binding and shipping...with zero profit to me. You can get more details about ordering and cost of this new Windham book by emailing me. John B. Windham Metairie, Louisiana j.b.windham@cox.net Notify Administrator about this message?
