I have checked the records for Welford Road Cem. (the only one at the time) from 1857-1875 and there are no windleys only one child which i will come back to.
John Henry and Henry known as Harry started of in the printing trade as 14/15 tear olds.
but soon went on to be actors /performers.
There is a book called Theatre in Leicestershire which features John H he was the manager of The Theatre Royal 1868-1873 also there is a programme which has on it Mr & Mrs J windley Mr Harry Windley and also Misses E & A windley (A being my G Nan)dated 9 Dec 1870. A family member also has 2 orginal prog. ( and a photo of John H)after managing John went back to journalism.
The is also an article in The Wyvern (local newpaper)dated 19 Feb 1897 which tells of John H career there was a benifit night being held for him at the Theatre Royal it also says he suffered badly from asthma Which took the lifes of my grandad and Uncle.
Harry was a comedian/singer and seems to have spent most of his time on the road.
