I have information on the following:
Palemon Winchester b. 2-11-1794 Baltimore Md
d. 5-28-1860 Carlinville, IL
married
Julia E. Stephenson on 7-16-1820 Edwardsville IL
their children:
Marion Shelby Winchester b. 9-29-1825
m. Nickolas Boice
Mary V. Winchesterb. 1828
m. William Ingall
Thomas Winchesterb. 1830
Elizabeth J. Winchesterb. 1831
Angeline Winchesterb. 1834
Harriet A. Winchesterb. 1835
Frank Winchesterb. 1838
On the 1850 Il census, I find Marion Shelby living with her husband and a Sarah V. Winchester, age 23, who is she?
Also, on the 1850, I find Mary V. living with husband William Ingall and her sister, Angeline. Then I find William Burdine and wife Elizabeth age 40 (too old to be a sibling) living with Thomas, Harriet and Frank Winchester (although they are listed as Burdine). You mentioned that Elizabeth was living a few doors down, did she marry Edward Carey or John Obey?Either way, that accounts for all of the children in 1850.Which one of these children is your line?
I still believe that the paragraph I quoted from the Winchester book proves the father to son connection between Stephen Winchester and Palemon. Also, Palemon's first child, Marion Shelby, was more than likely named after his brother-in-law, Anthony Bledsoe Shelby. On any documents you've seen, does it mention Palemon's siblings?
