Silas Winans

This is not part of my family tree... it is more like part of my parents lands family tree...

I was wondering if Silas Winans was part of anyones family tree and could give me some information about him.

I know he was in the Rev. war and was given land in what is now know as South Butler NY. He was the original owner of my parents land and is buried on their hill along with a few other people. I know that he sold my parents land to Uldrick Winegar in 1813.

I also know that he lived somewhere in that area for a short time (before his death), would like to know where if possible. We don't know how old our house is and it may be that because apparently Uldrick was married to Silasas daughter, Elizabeth.. but I am not sure about that fact as I have also seen he did not have any children..

All I know about him besides these facts are that he was born in 1760 (parents are William and Sarah (Hawley)?) and he died September 25 1823. He was Married to an Elizabeth, last name of Calkins... may be buried on hill as well but under different last name in 1848..

I have read he was a nice man but that is all that I have found out about him. I also like the fact that he was in the military, as am I currently.

Any information about the people mentioned would be greatly appreciated!!
Toni
