Hello, Bill,
The name Mims appears earlier in the Wimberly family. Ezekiel Wimberly, b. Sept. 01, 1783 in Bertie Co., N.C., d. May 05, 2843 in Twiggs Co., Ga. married Sarah MIMS.
His father was John Wimberly b. Oct. 01, 1755 in Bertie Co., N.C., d. June 02, 1835 in Jones Co., Ga. He had three wives. The mother of Ezekiel was Sally Perry b. abt. 1767 in Bertie Co., N.C. Lewis Wimberly was a half brother to Ezekiel Wimberly. His mother was Penelope Perry. Since I don't have the names of Ezekiel and Sarah Wimberly's children, they may have had a daughter named Sarah.

The middle initial could well have been DAVIS as John's father was Ezekiel Wimberly b. Feb. 08, 1711/12 in Bertie Co., N.C., d. 1809 Washington County, Ga. His wife was Mary DAVIS. Many of the descendents had DAVIS as middle names.
