Madisonville Democrat, (Monroe Co. TN) Wednesday, April 27, 1927:
“Interesting News From Route Six---We all were sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. Nancy Wimberley. She was always a friend to me and to my father’s family. She was a good, Christian woman. She was a daughter of Joseph Atkins, Sr. She has two brothers here in Monroe County; Hon. Andrew Atkins, of Madisonville, and Hon. Thomas Atkins, of near Tellico Plains. Her niece, Caroline Atkins, married my nephew, John T. Bogart, and her niece, Ada Atkins, married my nephew, Wesley Gardner. Mrs. Wimberley has many relatives in Monroe County and elsewhere.” ----Georgia A. Stakely.
