It's been a long while since this thread was started, but I am very interested in these people. The following is my understanding of the situation. There were two Wilkshire/Wiltshire/Wilshire families (the spelling is variable), all Mormon converts, who emigrated from Worcestershire, England, sailing from Liverpool to New Orleans in 1848 on board the ship Sailor Prince. William, his wife Ann, and their children were one group, and they went directly from New Orleans to Council Bluffs, Iowa. Then there was another Ann, a widow, with her children, who seem to have stayed in New Orleans for a while. This Ann was the mother of William and was planning to join him, but she is reported to have died of cholera in New Orleans, as well as two of her children. In the meantime, William died while swimming in the Missouri. Two remaining children of the Ann who died of cholera travelled up to Council Bluffs to join the family of William's widow, the other Ann. They all then made the overland trek to Salt Lake City in 1852. Details can be found at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~meledie/ghtout/np115.htm#iin1466http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~meledie/ghtout/np115.htm#iin1466. However, I think some of the information there is incorrect. It's a bit complicated sorting all this out, but I would love to correspond and exchange more information with anyone having an interest in all of this.
