William Wiltshire said he was born in Thundersley in 1823 as the son of Phoebe Wiltshire and William Wiltshire, but after years of searching through parish registers and Bishop's Transcripts I have not yet located a single William Wiltshire in that area. However there is a Phoebe Wiltshire living in Thundersley at that time who marries the widower James Wisbey a few years later and she appears up to the 1871 census.
I am also unable to find any information on Phoebe Wiltshire's parentage and I wonder if there are baptismal and burial records for that area, still around from pre 1800 ?
