In the name of God, Amen. This 2nd day of September in the year of our Lord 1767, I Nichleson Ross of Mecklenburg County N.Carolina being very sick & weak in body but being of perfect mind & memory Thanks be given to God, --- to mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last and testament, that is to say principally I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it at death & --- body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting --- at the general resurrection I shall --- again by the mighty power of God and touching such wordly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give --- bequeath the --- in the following manner & form. That is to say I give & bequeath TO MY WIFE ELIZABETH ROSS one third part of ---

both real & personal, also I give & bequeath to my daughter Hannah one third part of my estate, and the other one third I give & bequeath to my daughter Jane that --- intent & meaning is to divide the estate equally among the three, to wit my wife & two daughters a---- of mourning to my wife only excepted to --- & let of the estate---- as my wife is now with child & if it comes to be a son then I do give & bequeath to him my whole & real estate to him & his heirs forever, paying to his two sisters the sum of fifty pounds cash after he is of age after the following form (to wit) five pounds per year to each sister till it all (ink blot) if my wife should bring forth a girl then (ink blot) be divided equally among them, to wit my wife & her three daughters, and I – nominate, constitute and appoint Jonathan Conger & Arthur Brown Ross executors of this my last will & testament & I do hereby revoke disannul & disallow all other former wills, testaments & legacies bequeaths --- in --- before this time willed – or bequeathed, ratifying and cofirming this & no other to be my last will & teatment in witness (ink blot) I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal the day & year above written, sign'd seal'd ractified & confirmed by the said Nichleson Ross as his last will & Testament.
